Warm January Days

Do those three words even belong together? Apparently in Texas they do! We have loved being able to enjoy some outside time with great afternoon temps!

More Big Kid News

Little potty talk. Feel free not to read beyond this first paragraph. ;)

After we got settled from the move I began to prepare myself to potty train p&p. Along with switching over their beds this thought terrified me. I envisioned a horrible few days of constantly putting them on the potty, accidents, tantrums, and of course the dreaded nasty public bathroom visit with 2 little ones touching everything, eww. Diapers seemed so much easier to me. ;)

After talking to one of my friends one morning I decided to bite the bullet and start it that day. We were settled from the move (didn't want too many changes at once) and I had no where to be the next few days. I had a little chat, introduced the idea, showed them their new big kid undies, talked over a sticker chart and prizes...the works. Parker took to using the potty with ease...like he had been ready for a long time. He didn't need prizes, incentives, a small potty...nothing. He took to using the big potty with no issue. Presley on the other hand clearly was not interested. Oh the first few times she was excited...but after that she screamed at me if I tried. I gave up on her for the time being and really thought Parker using the potty would rub off on her...but it didn't. I gave her a break then about a month ago I stocked up on small toys for her to get a little present after she would go...she still wasn't interested. A few weeks ago she started calling us in her room at night needing to use the potty, after bedtime of course...how convenient. ;) However, when we would take her to her "princess potty" she would go every time..during the day was a different story- back to telling me NO. Last weekend out of no where Presley started telling us round the clock that she needed to go potty, and she hasn't looked back since. I think she's one of those "don't force me, I'll do it on my own" types. ;) Yay for my big kids!

And just because here are some pictures of these big kids!

Big kids!

We have 2 big kids in our house!

For months I had been feeling like we needed to switch p&ps beds to toddler beds but kept putting it off for a few reasons. 1. I didn't want to throw too many crazy changes at them with the move. 2. They had no issues being in their cribs. And 3. I had visions of two 2 year olds going bonkers in their room at night, freely playing, possible injuries and of course the fear of them beating on their doors wanting out. ;) Well, I am happy to report I completely underestimated my sweet children. They LOVE their new big kids beds and have listened when I said to call for me (as usual) when they wake up and I will come get them. Yay for a smooth transition!
I ordered them new "big kid" bedding for when we switched their beds, so it would be special. Presley's matches her baby bedding fabric almost exactly- yay! But, I found Parker the cutest cars quilt, so his room has been re-decorated a bit. They both love their new beds/rooms. :)

Here's a glance at their new rooms

Blast off!

Presley's imagination never ceases to amaze me. Here she is in the "rocket ship" she built. :)

Snow!

While being stuck at home with the sick little ones we at least got the excitement of waking up to some pretty snow the other morning! I didn't even know there was a chance of rain so I was pleasantly surprised. ;) Too bad p&p couldn't go play in it but they did perk up seeing it out the window.

Cute little Pudge in the snow and after being in the snow:)

Sickness!

Oh my. It all started Thursday last week. I got the 4:30am wake up call, (Presley crying) and walked in to find throw up on my poor girl. Fast forward 12 hours later, Presley finally gets a break...then Parker starts. So my thinking is, ok another 12 hours and we should be in the clear. Little did I know this awful virus would pull the rug out from under my babies for 6 days! Last night I finally saw my Parker's happy personality back! Presley has been herself off and on since Saturday, but poor Parker hadn't even walked until last night...so sad. I'm used to being crawled on, jumped on, and followed constantly so having two toddlers laying around and sleeping was so strange! After a trip to Care Now and then a Saturday morning trip to the ER (Parker had to get IV fluids and had low blood sugar..sad) I'm still not even sure what this sickness was- stomach bug or flu- maybe both? Who knows but I don't want to see it again.
Looking forward to getting back to our normal life and routine! After a few days it starts to feel like your life will never be normal again. ;)

Feels good to be back in my own bed after having camped out in the living room for 5 nights with the sick babies. It was easiest to just bring their crib mattresses in the living room. Parker didn't want his bed in his room ever again after that treat. ;)

Decking the halls...

Going to back track a little and post some pre-Christmas fun
We actually put the tree up Thanksgiving morning this year to get a little start in the decorating since Eric was off work, the decorations didn't come until the Saturday after. Just getting the tree out was enough to throw the kids off a bit, after their nap I went in Presley's room and she excitedly said, "Christmas now?!" haha.
The Friday after Thanksgiving when E got off work we met some friends Downtown for the Parade of Lights- so fun.
We took a few pics before we left..

To be continued...for some reason blogger will not let me add any more pictures to this post so I'm going to attempt to try in a new blog post. :)
Be back shortly with more pictures...really hoping to get caught up and post our Christmas pictures!
